Reminiscent of The Stooges, but probably more closely tied to The Strokes, San Sebastian has created a perfect party shout along single that could become the most overplayed song of the coming year if radio is lucky. The song struts to life with noisy abandon and joyous handclaps that gives it part of its throwback appeal.
Post punk outfit San Sebastian, fromOntario, serve up their new single “Baby” with wit and energy. Mike Veerman belts out the title and chorus “Baa-by” with a boozy abandon that begs you join in.
The video is its own absurdist masterpiece, following the 75 year old Burt’s night out with the band. He and the band hook up, fight over a girl, get some grub, and then hook up again. It merits repeated viewing, making you wish it was a series.
Up beat, catchy and memorable, “Baby” has hooks and clever video to make San Sebastian a household name. Can’t wait to see what they have planned for a follow up.
