Death in Motion

Music for Hunting and Gathering at the End of the World

This comes directly from Las Vegas band, Death in Motion’s Facebook page where they describe themselves as “Post Apocalyptic Hoodcore. Music for the metal wasteland.”

This sounded vaguely intriguing. The world, or at least the world this band inhabits, has ended as we know it. Usually this is the agreed upon meaning of “Post Apocalyptic.” Plus it’s a wasteland. Does it require a soundtrack? And if this is the house band for the apocalypse, maybe they could play something we all know until the world actually ends and then they won’t have to be so accommodating. Use the in–between time to privately develop their inner torment.

There are 6 guys in the band with elaborate make up, which again makes me wonder; if this is all after civilization has ceased, then can they really afford to spend so much time in front of the mirror? Shouldn’t they be out looking for MRE’s and cans of Beefaroni that survived whatever it was that caused all this doom and gloom? Mad Max seemed to be pre-occupied with that sort of thing.

Maybe they were prepared or lucked into someone’s still untouched Y2K/2012 Mayan calendar bunker, and are set up for a while. So with no video games, TV or jobs to distract them, they have all day to get ready. Seems like a lot of effort to perform for the survivors in the metal wasteland. Are these survivors/mutants even going to appreciate being serenaded? Maybe they need a break from their routine of hunting and gathering/scavenging.  I can’t imagine a time when I’d be more in need of a bunch of able bodied men in make-up huffing and chuffing away at their instruments than after the collapse of civilization. Muted chords and gorilla growl vocals will be comforting sounds, I s’pose.

The band features such players as BeAsT, TwiTch, bAstArd, AsheS , OmNiom, and CarveR, and from the looks of it, the laws of grammar have ended along with all modernity. And I have to ask, does Death in Motion remain in motion?  Newton’s laws were after all, written for a healthier time. My first thoughts are Death in Motion may prevent one from resting in peace.                                                                                                                                       Death in Motion are the sweet hoodcore sounds by which you’ll be banging your head once the apocalypse; zombie, nuclear or other has arrived. But with resources scarce, you may wish to conserve your energy until you finally arrive at a safe locale.

Until then, Death in Motion will have to keep preparing for the day the world ends and they will finally be appreciated, because they said, “I told you so.”
