This is a hell of a line-up. Ear splitting, bone crushing, hard lined and obstinate metal. Heavy, dense, auditory 
bombardments from Monolord, Beastmaker, and Sweat Lodge. Each punishing and ironfisted in their own way.
I blame missing Sweat Lodge, from Austin, Texas, on Orlando’s City Planning who closed sections of 50 down to one lane. To their credit, all reports were favorable. The band is tough and deliver uncompromising metal, rife with emotion and dark energy.
Up next from Fresno, California, was Beastmaker and they delivered a memorable set of slower, 70’s inspired metal. With hulking, over sized riffs and a substantial rhythm section, this three piece churned through a roiling set of turbulent music. As heavy as Beastmaker are, they kept the songs moving along with effortless tempo shifts and searing leads. Their use of low lights helped create a dramatic presence onstage. “Astral Corpse” was a show highlight.
From Sweden comes Monolord. Slowly, and conspicuously plodding forth with a 
enormous sludgy noise that sounds like the earth tearing itself apart and forming something new. Tense, vivid blasts of white noise from a wah wah pedal cut menacingly through the thunderous, unforgiving back beat. Monolord are doom at it’s most glorious, unhurried best.
Do not be the person who misses this tour because you were binge watching something that’ll definitely be available on your next day off. This should not be missed.
