Howlin’ Wolf and the Blues
Howlin’ Wolf and the Blues
by Nik Talbot
One of the great things about vinyl is that it’s timeless. One of my favorite LPs I have is from Chess Records it’s a cadet concept it’s the “The Howlin Wolf Album” with tracks such as “Spoonful,” “Smokestack”, “Built for Comfort”. When I first heard this record I was complete floored. I thought, “Wow! this is really the most soulful blues I’ve ever heard.”
Howlin’ Wolf would just moan into the mic, and I loved every second of it. The sounds that they made on that record the production every thing about it changed me as a player. After recently picking up a magazine with Howlin’ Wolf on the front cover I’ve discovered even more terrificMississippiblues bands. The blues has changed me as a person, and I’ve been able to understand life a whole lot better.
Nik Talbot currently plays guitar for The Dull Blades and can be seen towering over most people of average height.
