This Brooklyn two piece serves up straightforward garage rock done just right. Loose, adrenalized and on the verge of falling apart at any moment. With Frank Hoier on guitar and vocals, and Moselle Spiller playing drums, Boom Chick does manage to keep it together and it’s this looseness that makes them feel slightly dangerous.

“Untitled Jam #1,” sounds cool and off the cuff, like a relaxed moment you’d hear on a bootleg of a Led Zeppelin sound check circa 1971.

“Ghost of Bo Diddley,” is a gritty, wrecking ball of a song, that’ll crush anything that gets in its way. “Made Up My Mind,” is a slice of perfect radio ready pop. It jangles and swirls like The Searcher’s “Needles and Pins .”

Through-out the disc there are some absolute gems. “Black Dress Blues,” “Cryin’ Rooster,” and “Crown of Wildflowers,” are some of the stand out tracks. The guitar is sleazy, raw and unrefined. The drums thump and crash noisily. And the whole raucous thing sounds as if it was recorded in someone’s living room on cheap microphones. Cleaning up the production on this would be a mistake. Boom Chick are a wonderful noisy indulgence, and I’m ready to drive everyone within earshot nuts with it, as should you.
