Die a Legend have released a real kick in the balls sort of CD of hardcore punk with some metal edges that’ll give you some proper motivation as you head out on your morning run/workout. Honestly, if this was on my headphones, as I cycled around the neighborhood, I might be inclined to chase down the cats who like to lay so nonchalantly in the middle of the street.
The songs are swift, angry, and as easy to ignore as a bar fight. “Pitchshifter,” and “End Game” are songs that push the limits of terminal velocity.
“Come Crashing Down,” “Full Circle,” and “One of These Days” are slower more measured numbers, but no less aggressive. “One of these Days” in particular has enough of a groove to latch onto, and savor.
But like so many of the best things in life, the intense and fleeting brevity is what gives these songs and their performance their true emotional resonance. It’s meant to raise your heart rate, to make you want more. And it does.
