Brutal Death Fuck: Not Just Another Pretty Face
Brutal Death Fuck
The Devil’s Whiskey
Independent Release, 2013
I like this way more than I thought I would.
The name alone would make you think this was yet another talentless bunch of muted E chord chuffing, Gorilla growling, I already said talentless, but really can’t say it enough; knuckle dragging, mono brow, monosyllabic, mouth-breathing, band from
Xxghtyhxlugherthykklophlmnop, Poland. But no, Brutal Death Fuck are better than most, and if they had a different name, might have a chance of mainstream interest.
Brutal Death Fuck have some great classic metal moves under their belts. Like they quit listening to Motley Crue after Shout At the Devil, the way most people would have if they knew what was good for them. Before Tommy Lee felt the need to show he could play the piano or steer a boat with his penis, and while Nikki Sixx’s addiction was enough to inspire, and not turn him into an addled fool who thought Theater of Pain was a good idea.
But the two songs here, “The Devil’s Whiskey” and “Redhed” are taut, memorable, and delivered with panache, motherfucker. Both songs sound fresh and familiar, at the same time. No easy feat. There’s a great drive to them and you want to hear more. There’s a great mid-tempo feel, making them a perfect request for that stripper your obsessed with to dance to.
You know what else?
It’s fun to say Brutal Death Fuck. Go ahead, say it. Again, louder.
Told you. I can see how it might get awkward.
