Brooklyn singer/songwriter Julia Weldon has managed a neat trick with this latest release, Light is a Ghost. She  crafted a disc with some of the best pop music, “Careful in the Dark,” as well as indie-folk with “Marian,” and even some country-blues Woody Guthrie would’ve been proud to have called his own, “Went to my Woman.”

All of this while managing to sound true blue and sincere. A lot of artists who attempt stylistic changes sound calculated and forced. Weldon manages these all deftly, inserting her own personality in all she does. Humor tempers pain and makes facing another day and another crisis manageable. Julia Weldon’s music feels lighter than air and like the promise of spring.
