Grace Potter, best known for her Earthy, bluesy jam band leanings, has decided to put on some kicky heels, and go to the club for this latest disc. Keyboards and synths take center stage, instrumentally speaking, bolstering her expressive and steamy vocals. Lively and soulful, Potter hasn’t done a complete 180. “Empty Heart” is a rock song dressed up and pushed through a pop filter.“Nobody is Born with a Broken Heart” is a standout track. Hopeful with anticipation, this a narrative song where she hints at gospel and lets’s the guitar palyer d his thing.

This is a breezy collection of numbers, Potter is tapping into a different part of her musical personality than we’re used to seeing, and that’s fine. She’s good at it and a pleasure to hear her challenge herself and her considerable talents.
