From Florida’s West Coast, Tampa, to be exact, come The Mojo Gurus. The band are well enough streetwise, but still able to 
breathe in the putrid, oozing swamp surrounding the city. This sort of noxious, fetid goodness, distinctively colors the edges of this loud and unruly record.
“Where You Hidin’ Your Love” gets the party started and is filled with brassy horn blasts in the vein of ’70’s Stones and Aerosmith. They never deviate too far from this white boy blues, and that’s fine. They’re good at it.
These four bluster and strut confidently on “Devil to Pay” and “The Last Rock n’Roll Show,” like their playing with something to prove. Surf-rock instrumental “Bandito,” is a slippery bit of fun that unexpectedly comes in under the radar.“Hoodoo Man” is a sleazy, blues romp that sounds like a roadhouse at closing time.
The Mojo Gurus are great at good time music without any pretensions. What more could you want?
