Koffin Kats

Our Way & the Highway

This most recent release by Detroit’s Koffin Kats covers familiar territory; touring, drinking, murder, suicide and revenge.  And it does it really well.  There’s a nice mix of songs from high speed psychobilly numbers, “Riding High,” to straight ahead rockers like “Choke.” Vic Victors voice is in fine form as is the rest of the band as they turn in impossibly tight musical performances.

“BOOZINCROSSANATION” sums up the bands work ethic nicely, “From the backroads of America/to the mountains of Romania/We’re playin in/ A ramblin’ band.”  The level of musicianship on display can only be brought on by non-stop touring.

The blacktop stomp of “The Devil Asked” is an unexpected bit of fun, reminiscent of some of the best 60’s drag racing themed garage rock.  Coloured with incendiary guitar leads, the band shifts gears easily, navigating the musical  changes  effortlessly.

The Koffin Kats are good at what they do and do it far better than most comparable bands. Our Way and the Highway is their most polished studio release to date. This CD is a fine example of a working band at it’s best.
