Teenage Bottlerocket

w/Tightwire, and Easy Uzi’s

Teenage Bottlerocket have been at this punk rock thing for a long time and thank God they’re still at it. Before a respectable Monday night crowd in Melbourne, they took the stage, wasted no time on idle chatter and slammed through a solid 70 minutes of short, catchy, instantly memorable punk rock, with one song slamming headlong into the next, with an unrelenting ferocity and exacting delivery.

About ¾ of the way through the set, I realized two things.

First, this was one of the best punk shows I’d seen in long time,

Second, it was precisely this sort of feel and performance that made me fall in love with punk rock three decades ago, watching the Ramones, naturally.

Teenage Bottlerocket performed like they were born to it, because they were. And everything sounded fresh and exciting because it was. I can’t wait for TB to come back around. It can’t be soon enough.

Tightwire, a trio from Minneapolis, seemed to appreciate their time in Florida as Winter is still having it’s way back home. With a strong sense of melody, great harmonies, and unwavering drive, Tightwire served up a memorable set of solid, quick paced punk. A good-natured sense of levity seemed to run throughout their material, making them easy to like.
